Location: Greater Pittsburgh Region
Status: Hourly/Non-exempt
Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Compensation: $15-16 per hour

Job Summary As a STEAM Program Intern at the BGCWPA, you will play a vital role in making an impact on our STEAM education initiatives and programs. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the STEAM fields, while actively contributing to the growth of our organization. Collaborating closely with seasoned coordinators, management, and recruitment teams, you will have a pivotal role in delivering high-impact STEAM programming to our clubhouses and our community members. Embracing the chance to make a difference and develop your skills in a supportive and engaging environment. The intern reports to the STEAM Program Manager
Responsibilities: - Assistance in developing and teaching lesson plans for after-school and summer programming for K-12 youth
- Collaborate with STEAM department in creating and preparing lessons
- Help organize and inventory STEAM supplies and classrooms
- Participate and assist in STEAM program trainings
- Support recruiting efforts for STEAM programs
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance STEAM lesson plans
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements: - The candidate has an interest in working with youth in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics
- Pursuing a degree in a related field: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or education; or 2 years of related experience
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with appropriate decision-making skills
- Professional level verbal and written communications skills
- Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills
- The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
- Willingness to perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.
Certifications and Clearances BGCPWA’s highest priority is the safety of the youth we serve. CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Criminal History, FBI Clearance, NSOR Certificate, PA Disclosure, PA Staff Health Assessment, TB Test, and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire.
